Sperling

The band Sperling released their debut album "Zweifel" at the beginning of 2021 and quickly conquered the hearts of the German music scene. The five-piece band combines post-hardcore with rap and cello and deals with topics like loneliness, depression, fear and doubt. Guitarist and main songwriter Malte writes the instrumentals and the band develops them in rehearsals. The sound is inspired by Fjørt, La Dispute and Heisskalt and is characterized by wide reverb effects and the cello. The raw vocals are reminiscent of Casper and Fabian Römer. The lyrics are about everyday things that are often repressed, like love, the darkness after a breakup and the ignorance towards the problems of others. Sperling calls for a critical look at one's environment and behavior. The last song on the album is a lullaby about death and the companionship of dying people, a special topic for singer and rapper Jojo, who works as a geriatric nurse.
