SONDASCHULE
Since 1999, Sondaschule from Mülheim an der Ruhr has been playing ska-punk that doesn’t take itself too seriously but also recognizes the serious sides of life. The six musicians combine driving horns, clanging punk rock, and laid-back reggae with German lyrics that are sometimes ironic, sometimes thought-provoking, and often wonderfully direct. With “Unbesiegbar,” they reached number two on the German album charts and proved that, even after more than 25 years as a band, they’re far from done. Their follow-up album, “Wir bleiben wach,” is about solidarity, getting back on your feet, and looking ahead even after setbacks. Between exuberance and melancholy, there’s still plenty of room to shake off the daily grind for a moment. After their last DEICHBRAND performance in 2024, Sondaschule is returning. With songs to dance to, sing along to, and for everything else life has to offer.
