ACCESSIBILITY

Accessibility

We want everything to run as smoothly as possible for all guests at DEICHBRAND. That’s why we’re making our festival as accessible as possible. Please remember that disabilities and impairments aren’t always visible. What comes naturally to you isn’t automatically “normal” for everyone else.

Below you’ll find a variety of information about inclusion and accessibility at DEICHBRAND. In the weeks leading up to the festival, we’ll be updating this page with more details. Be sure to check out our general festival info and details on camping and more.

To register

DEICHBRAND features a specially designated Special Needs Camp. Located very close to the infield and thus to the stages, it is accessible to all visitors with a disability ID card and their friends/companions upon registration. In addition to accessible restroom facilities—including odor-sealed waste disposal—the Special Needs Camp also offers charging stations for electronic devices (e.g., electric wheelchairs) and storage for medications, either at refrigerator or room temperature. You’ll also find a reception desk on-site with staff members ready to assist you with advice and support. Please note that the camping area is an unpaved surface. However, there will be paved paths leading to the paved road toward the infield.

You may register one vehicle per visitor with a severe disability and drive it onto the campgrounds—for example, a campervan, an RV, or simply a car. A valid camping ticket is required per person for access to and overnight stays in the camping areas at the DEICHBRAND Festival. This also applies to the Special Needs Camp.

Registration for the Special Needs Camp closes on June 30, 2026. After the registration deadline, all visitors who have registered for the Special Needs Camp will receive a newsletter with all important information regarding travel, check-in, and your stay at the festival.

The DEICHBRAND Festival offers a variety of camping options. Please note that, aside from the infield, accessible restroom facilities and low-barrier pathways can only be guaranteed in the Special Needs Camp.

You can find all other camping options on the festival grounds here.

The Special Needs parking lot, located close to the infield, is ideal for all Special Needs guests who are staying off-site or visiting us as day guests. The paths from the parking lot to the infield are mostly paved. Please note that this year, the parking lot is no longer located directly next to the Special Needs Camp. If you are staying at the Special Needs Camp and need to have your vehicle parked nearby, please indicate this on the registration form as “1 vehicle at the Special Needs Camp.”

If your disability ID card bears the designation B, H, or Bl, you can designate a companion to assist you via the registration form and bring them to the festival free of charge. Please note that your companion should be able to assist you in special circumstances, such as severe weather. Not all of our paths are paved, which can make it more difficult to get around with walking aids or a wheelchair.

We strongly recommend registering in advance using the form. If you are unable to register your companion in advance, you can do so on-site at the box office, subject to ticket availability. Please note that the path to the box office is unpaved and may be difficult to access depending on weather conditions. It is mandatory that both the visitor with a severe disability and the companion appear in person at check-in or at the box office, as festival wristbands are applied directly to the wrist.

If you are staying at the Special Needs Camp, your medically necessary companion counts toward the maximum group size of up to five people and must be included when registering for the Special Needs Camp.

Check-in & Arrival

We know that traveling to the festival and exchanging your festival ticket for a wristband on-site can be a challenge for you, especially if you have mobility limitations. That’s why we’re always committed to making this process as easy as possible for you. To help you prepare, we’ve compiled some important information here for you. Please note that we will gradually add more information here as it becomes available. If you have registered for our Special Needs Camp, our Special Needs Parking, and/or with a free companion, you will receive an informational email after the registration deadline, detailing everything you need to know about travel, check-in, and your stay on-site as thoroughly as possible.

If you plan to arrive by car, we have paid parking spaces available right on the premises. One parking ticket is required per vehicle, which must be purchased in advance through our ticket shop. Simply click here. If you have a disability ID card, you have the option to use our Special Needs Parking after prior registration, which is located closer to the infield and has direct access to a paved road. You can find the relevant information and registration for Special Needs Parking further up on this page.

You have the option of driving your RV, campervan, car with a roof tent, or similar vehicle directly to the Special Needs Camp and camping there. You can find more information about this further up on this page. In addition, we have our regular Womo areas and our Comfort Village — you can find more information about these here.

We are offering a shuttle bus service from the Nordholz and Cuxhaven train stations to the festival grounds. If you plan to travel by train, please choose a route that goes to the “Nordholz” station. From there, an accessible shuttle option will also be available—the regular shuttle buses are NOT accessible. The shuttle schedules will be posted here well in advance of your arrival.

You’ll find plenty of taxis at the Cuxhaven and Nordholz train stations. There’s also a taxi stand near our “Drop-off & Pick-up” area. If none are available, here are some phone numbers for taxi companies in the area. If you need an accessible taxi, please mention this when you make your reservation:

04741 – 1001 Taxi Töllner (Wurster Nordseeküste)

04742 – 2121 Taxruf Land Wursten (Wurster Nordseeküste)

04721 – 36000 Nordsee Taxi (Cuxhaven)

04721 – 667790 Taxi Cityliner (Cuxhaven)

04777 – 1499 Taxi Freese (Cadenberge)

If you would like someone to drop you off or pick you up, we have set up a designated drop-off and pick-up area on the grounds. You can drive into this area without a parking ticket or permit and stop briefly to drop off or pick up visitors. Please note that the path between the infield and the “Drop-off & Pick-up” area is relatively long and mostly unpaved.

Depending on your registration and specific needs, you will be assigned different arrival addresses. We will notify all registered attendees of this via email in early July. If you’d still like to get a sense of the festival location in advance, here is the official festival address:

DEICHBRAND Festival
Otto-Lilienthal-Straße 1
27639 Wurster Nordseeküste

Please follow the signs and the instructions of the festival crew on site when you arrive. The address is for orientation purposes only and is not the exact location of the parking lot.

FAQ

Feel free to contact us directly using the contact form or by email at specialneeds@deichbrand.de. We’ll take note of this information and find a solution.

Of course! The Special Needs Camp has a specific option for this. When you register for the Special Needs Camp, you’ll have the chance to let us know directly whether and how your medications need to be stored. You can find the registration form at the top of the page.

You won’t be staying at the Special Needs Camp, but still need a way to keep your medication refrigerated or at room temperature? Then feel free to email us at specialneeds@deichbrand.de.

If you have registered for the Special Needs Camp/Parking or for a free accompanying person, you will receive an informational email after the registration deadline with all the important details regarding your travel, check-in, and stay on-site.

At DEICHBRAND Festival, most of the grounds are UNPAVED—this includes the infield and nearly all parking and camping areas. Nevertheless, we ensure that as many walkways and gathering areas as possible are paved to the greatest extent possible, so that they can also be used by people with limited mobility. This includes, among other things, the paths between the Special Needs Camp/Parking area and the wheelchair platforms at the stages. There are also paved seating and standing areas at our food courts.

Yes, there is power available there for charging electric wheelchairs or medical devices, for example.

In that case, please contact us directly at specialneeds@deichbrand.de or fill out the contact form. We’re sure we can find a solution that works for you!

Yes, there are locks at the wheelchair ramps. However, they can only be opened with a Euro key. Unfortunately, we can’t lend you one, so be sure to bring your own.

We have a wide variety of food stands that also offer gluten-free options. Please note, however, that none of the vendors serve exclusively gluten-free food, so cross-contamination cannot be ruled out. You are more than welcome to pack a large lunch and bring it into the infield, provided you can show a doctor’s note to security.

An event as large as DEICHBRAND Festival is not a suitable place for animals, not even for a well-trained assistance dog. Therefore, the answer is unfortunately no.

Are you bringing a medically necessary accompanying person? If your disabled person's pass contains the mark B, Bl or H, your accompanying person receives free admission to the festival.
What type of disability do you have? This information is voluntary and helps us better understand our guests' needs and continuously improve accessibility at DEICHBRAND Festival.
